Peabody Community Foundation members
The Peabody Community Foundation has a one-time opportunity to receive a 50 percent match on all gifts made now through Dec. 31. This match, offered by the Central Kansas Community Foundation, is designed to help increase the Peabody Community Impact Fund, an unrestricted grant-making fund that supports local charities.
CKCF will provide a 50 percent match, up to $60,000. To date, Peabody Community Foundation has raised $23,000.
The Peabody Community Foundation was formed in summer 2000. Nine Peabody citizens with a common vision created the foundation to build for the future.
The foundation is a nonprofit organization to provide a place for people to invest and create endowments to charities of their choice.
It is a permanent collection of funds supported by a wide range of donors. Through long-term investment capital contributions by individuals, organizations, and corporations, the fund supports specific programs including education, the environment, and healthcare, civic and human services.
The Board of Directors of PCF assists donors in creating and making distributions in accordance with the donor’s intent. Only the earnings from a gift are distributed, never the principal amount of the gift.
The funds are permanently endowed; pooled for investment with other assets of the Central Kansas Community Foundation.
Each year the income is given to the Peabody Community Foundation for distribution to the charities included in the Foundation. These endowments help ensure the strength, quality, and accessibility of a wide range of charitable services in the community.
Charities included in the PCF are Peabody Main Street, Carnegie Library, Peabody Senior Center, USD 398 Project and Education Endowment, Peabody Historical Society, United Methodist Church Scholarship, Catlin Community Cemetery, and the Ralph and Una/Edna May Ewert Scholarship.
Just imagine making a difference for generations to come with your gift, regardless of the size. Your contribution may address a number of needs or benefit multiple organizations included in the PCF. You may wish to start a new account designated to a specific cause with a gift of $5,000.
Endowment gifts are special gifts that one makes to show appreciation for what the community has done for you. In turn, your gift can enhance the future of the Peabody community.
Who can help? Everyone.
Decide today to make your gift an investment in the future of Peabody through the Peabody Community Foundation. Your gift by Dec. 31 will help assure that the foundation can meet the match for the additional $37,000. All gifts are tax deductible.
Peabody Community Foundation board members are Mary Avery, Ross Baker, Lynn Berns, Sharlene Brooks, John Carroll, N.M. Patton, Barry Peter, and Lewis Unruh.
