Grant to help pay for audio book

A $7,500 grant will help fund a Marion County audio tour book planned by Flint Hills Counterpoint and Peabody Historical Society.

Brainstorming sessions about what to include in the book are planned for:

  • 1 p.m. Aug. 13 at Turquoise Table and Marion Historical Museum across the street.
  • 1 p.m. Aug. 14 in Ann Potter Room of Peabody Township Library
  • 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at the prep school building at Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum in Goessel.

Past and present residents are being asked to share memories, folklore, histories, and other information connected to places, people, land, plants, and animals of the county.

The book will include GPS coordinates and QR codes that can be scanned to link to narration, music, sounds, photography, and other features.

Parts of the book, which will be hand-bound, will be printed at Peabody Print Museum. Cyan Meeks and Susan Mayo have been selected as lead artists.
