Always enjoyed by adults as well as children, the annual Grandparents’ Day Dinner at Peabody-Burns Elementary School is right around the corner.
PBES students will invite their grandparents to come to school, eat with them, and take part in special activities in the classrooms on Sept. 10 and 11.
PBES staff reminds that anyone wishing to be a grandparent for a day may contact the school and sign up for the “Adopt a Grandparent” program.
“We have people in the community who enjoy participating in this event, but who don’t have grandchildren nearby,” district curriculum director Kathy Preheim said. “And we have children whose grandparents are not able to attend because of distance or health issues. Adopting a grandparent is a great way for everyone to feel a part of things.”
There is no charge for participation in classroom activites, but there is a $4 per person charge for the meal. Reservations need to be made by the end of the school day Sept. 4. More information is available by calling PBES at (620) 983-2188.
