Granddaughter marries in Topeka

Peter and Crystal Kautz were married June 8 at Topeka Country Club in Topeka.

The couple met in Lawrence in 2009.

The bride’s parents are Loretta and Lewis Gray of Great Bend. Grandparents are Marjorie and Fordyce Gray of Peabody, and Lydia and Harold Miller of Billings, Mont.

The groom’s parents are Pamela and Frederick Kautz of Leawood. His grandparents are Louise and Fred Kautz of Atchison and Daphne Paton and Jim Paton of Australia.

The bride wore an ivory satin strapless A-line gown with a chapel-length veil. The groom wore a black tuxedo. Flowers included ivory and lavender roses; pink, purple, and white daisies; and blue delphinium.

The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Misty Straub. Bridesmaids were Allison Smith and Lindsey Stewart. The best man was the groom’s brother, Ben Pate. Groomsmen were Galen Peak and Adam Stewart. Usher was Landon Gray, brother of the bride. Ring bearer was Alexander Pate, nephew of the groom. Candle lighter was Makenna Straub, niece of the bride. Flower girl was Makeila Straub, niece of the bride. Gift attendant was Genevieve Kautz, sister of the groom.

The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Noel Stephens, friend of the Kautz family. The bride was given away by her father.

The bride, is a 2002 graduate of Great Bend High School. She has a bachelor’s in elementary education and a master’s in school counseling from Emporia State University. She is a K-12 counselor.

The groom is a 1999 graduate of Blue Valley High School, and has a degree in economics from the University of Kansas. He is administrator of Medicalodges in Pittsburg.

The couple resides in Pittsburg.
