Golfers take 2nd at home, 3rd at Sedgwick

Marion/Peabody-Burns golfers have been picking up their golf game as of late.

The Warriors claimed second place and medalled Tuesday at a home meet with a 409, and medalled in 3rd place Thursday at Sedgwick with a 417.

“The team has been making slow, steady improvements each week, and it was great to see their hard work rewarded with our first team medals of the season,” coach Topher Rome said.

Individually, Jade Corona placed second with a 87, Jarrett Johnson was ninth at 104, Devin Soyez was 10th at 106, and Jacob Matz was 12th at 112 at Marion.

“Jade, Jarrett, and Devin all shot personal bests and received individual medals,” Rome said. “Every score mattered for our team, and I am immensely proud of our team for delivering their best score of the season.”

Individually at Sedgwick, Corona also medalled taking second place at 92, finishing just eight strokes behind the tournament champion from Sedgwick.

Austin Molleker shot a 106, Johnson had 108, Zach Stephey and Matz both scored 111, and Adam Kjellin had a 131.
