Girls lose 2 to end regular season

As the 2011-12 season comes to a close, the Peabody Burns High School Lady Warriors basketball team recorded two losses this past week. The squad was defeated at Little River, 41-18, on Feb. 14, and they also lost to Moundridge on Friday at home, 52-33. The team played Tuesday at Hope in the last regular season contest and will move into sub-state competition.

Little River 41, PBHS 18

Little River took a 4-point advantage, 14-10, over the Lady Warriors in the first quarter of the contest. Rayna Barnes led the team with 4 points in the period. Paige Lewis, Brandee Burnett, and Tori Schroeder each added 2.

The Redskins added 12 in the second. No points for the PBHS squad gave the team a huge gap to overcome in the next half. PBHS trailed, 26-10.

A Lewis 2-point basket was the offense for the Lady Warriors in the third quarter. Little River added 11 and took the 37-12 lead at the end of three quarters.

Jordan Gibson, Burnett, and Lewis each added 2 in the fourth quarter. The Redskins added 4. PBHS lost, 41-18. Barnes and Schroeder each had 6 rebounds. Lewis earned 4.

Moundridge 52,
PBHS 33

Moundridge took a 15-6 advantage in the first quarter. Barnes had 4 points for the Lady Warriors and Sarah Hofkamp added 2.

The PBHS offense improved slightly in the second quarter, scoring 8, but the Wildcats added 13. Lewis had 4 in the quarter. Burnett and Schroeder each added 2.

The Wildcats’ offense continued to have success, adding 17 points. The Lady Warriors added 6. Hofkamp had 4 in the period. Barnes added 2.

PBHS offense outscored Moundridge, 13-7, in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Warriors were defeated, 52-33. Barnes had 6 in the final period. Hofkamp added 4, and McKenzie Ensminger got on the board with 2. Gibson scored a free throw.
