IN MEMORIUM:   Gerald "Jerry" Cady

Gerald W. “Jerry” Cady, 76, passed away Oct. 10, 2015, at Newton Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 26, 1939, near Scottsville, Kansas, the son of Gerald R. and Loretta V. (Grennan) Cady, they would later move to Beloit. He was a 1958 graduate of St. John’s High School in Beloit.

On May 31, 1959, he married Donna Willett at Beloit. This union was blessed with four children: Laurie, Jeff, Brian, and Brad.

In 1990, they moved to Marion, and he established the Jerry Cady Agency. Donna passed away Sept. 19, 1992. He later married Enid (Thiessen) Jost on Aug. 5, 1995. This marriage would bring three more children into Jerry’s life: Chris, Carla, and Carey.

Jerry served on the Beloit High School Board of Education, was an officer of Beloit Elks Lodge, was active at St. John’s Catholic Church of Beloit, and later Holy Family Parish of Marion County.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Donna; and a granddaughter, Alison Cady.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Enid Cady of Marion; children: Laurie Holub and husband, Pat, of Marion, Jeff Cady and wife, Theresa, of Bennington, Brian Cady and wife, Miki, of Derby, and Brad Cady of Marion; stepchildren, Chris Jost and Debra Martens of Penrose, Colorado, Carla Longmeyer and husband, Jamey, of Longmont, Colorado, and Carey Jost and wife, Lorri, of Haysville; six siblings; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were to be at St. John Nepomucene Church of Pilsen, with the Rosary being held on Tuesday, and the Funeral Mass being held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at St. John’s Cemetery of Beloit.
