Gene C. Warnica, 74, passed away Dec. 2, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Chapman, the son of George and Hazel Whitley Warnica. He grew to adulthood in the Chapman-Buckeye area, graduating from Chapman High School. He was a surveyor for Kansas Department of Transportation.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Warnica.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Delores “Dory” (Schafers) Warnica of the home; children: Ronald Ehrlich of Omaha, Neb., Brad Warnica of Herington, Gerry Vinduska of Pilsen, and Greg Warnica of Marion; a sister Anne Holler of Henderson, Nev.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation with the family was Monday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. A private family committal service was Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at Marion Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Marion City Christmas Light Fund in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS, 66861.
