Gary Alleven

MARION — Gary J. Alleven, 46, passed away April 7, 2014, from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Hillsboro, Kan.

He was a Journeyman Electrician with the IBEW Local #271 of Wichita. He was born Nov. 5, 1967, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was the son of Ed and Rita (Dubbelde) Alleven.

He held a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Wichita State University. On March 1, 1997, he was united in marriage to Barbara Hett.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Barbara Alleven; their sons, Garrett, Cade, and Will Alleven, all of Marion; and his siblings, Mike Alleven and Anita Alleven, both of Sioux Falls.

Visitation with family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Holy Family Parish Hall, 417 N. Cedar St., Marion. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen. Interment will be in the Claney Cemetery.

The Alleven Children Educational Fund has been established in his honor, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, KS 66861.
