Frank Bailey

Former Florence resident Frank V. Bailey, 81, of Sedan, died July 13 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan.

Born July 15, 1927, in Emporia, to Ora L. “Pop” and Iona (Mast) Bailey, he attended school in Emporia, and lived in Roswell, N.M., Marion, and Florence.

He served stateside in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Barbara Collins on June 8, 1945, in Cottonwood Falls. They later divorced. He married Wilma Glasock. She preceded him in death. He then married Lois Seward who also preceded him.

He was a truck driver for an oil company, and later owned and operated a recycling company.

Two grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and a brother, Ferris Bailey, preceded him in death.

Survivors include three sons, Frank V. Jr. and Rocky of Emporia, and Rick of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Debra Fernandez of Houston and Penny Long of Peru; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Moody of Ulysses; two brothers, Earl of Park City and Paul of Canton; a sister, Inez Ryan of Independence; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was today at Marion Cemetery.
