Foundation to give cash, cook pancakes

Peabody Community Foundation will host its annual pancake day from 7 to 11 a.m. Feb. 1 at Peabody Senior Center.

A sausage and pancake breakfast will be by donation as a fundraiser for the foundation.

Kids ages 3 to 13 can bring their own skillet and compete in a Flippin’ Pancake Race at 10:30 a.m. The race will be outside. Prizes will be awarded. Parents or guardians must sign a release of liability form.

Grants to fund local community charity projects will be announced at 10:30 a.m. The foundation received 14 applications. Two foundation board members and three community members decided grants.

Information about each project will be shared during the presentation. Grants are funded by the Peabody Endowment fund and Kansas Health Foundation fund.

This past year the foundation awarded $11,000 to 11 different Peabody area charities, including a grant to USD 398.

Becky Nickel, director of the foundation, can be reached by email at admin@peabodycommunityfoundation.org.
