Peabody-Burns High School students were medal winners March 7 and March 10 at invitational forensics meets.
At the March 7 meet at Udall High School, seniors Seth Methvin and Alex Holm-McDowell earned a first-place medal for improvised duet acting. Methvin added a third- place medal for informative speaking and Holm-McDowell a fifth-place medal for dramatic solo acting.
Brother and sister duo, Martin and Sarah Hofkamp, took sixth place awards in improvised duet acting.
Other teams competing were from Oxford, Pretty Prairie, Clearwater, Arkansas City, West Elk, Central of Burden, Sedan, Belleville, and Douglass.
Medal winners at the March 10 meet at Wichita Independent were Methvin/Holm-McDowell, third place for improvised duet acting; Martin Hofkamp/Traylee Woodruff, fourth place for improvised duet acting; Methvin, fourth place for informative speaking; and Holm-McDowell, fourth place for dramatic solo.
Paige Barnes placed ninth in informative speaking.
Other teams competing were Garden Plain, Goddard, McPherson, Kapaun Mount Carmel, Salina Central, Solomon Sterling, Valley Center, White City, Wichita Northwest, Wichita Collegiate, Rose Hill, and Wichita Heights.
