Chingawassa Days will feature two diverse headline acts in two nights, offering a variety of music.
Foghat will perform June 5 and The Bellamy Brothers will be featured June 6 in Marion’s Central Park.
Foghat
Rock music lovers will enjoy the music from the 1970s and 1980s with legendary band Foghat.
Known for hits that include “Slow Ride,” “Save Your Loving (For Me),” “I Just Want To Make Love To You,” “Third Time Lucky,” and “Fool For The City,” the band released its first album in 1971 and toured for the next 14 years.
Their hard work was rewarded with seven gold records, one platinum for “Fool For The City” in 1975, and one double-platinum album, “Foghat Live” in 1977.
“Fool For The City” album contained Foghat’s trademark top-40 hit song, “Slow Ride,” and cemented their place as one of the world’s top rock acts.
The Bellamy Brothers
Blood brothers, Howard and David Bellamy have been on the music scene for 30 years with their blend of rock and country music.
Their first hit, “Let Your Love Flow,” in 1976, hit the pop charts and also has been a country favorite for the past three decades.
The duo emerged on the country scene with the bona fide smash, “If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me).”
Success continued with songs “Do You Love As Good As You Look,” “Redneck Girls,” “Dancing Cowboys,” “Sugar Daddy,” “Old Hippie,” “Too Much Is Not Enough,” and “For All The Wrong Reasons.”
The Bellamy Brothers holds records for nominations for the Academy of Country Music and the Country music Association Awards for the most duo nominations.
Other events
Traditional Chingawassa Days events are planned including the return of the poker run, horseshoe pitching tournament, Marion Lions Club Car Show, barbecue, watermelon feed, and amusement rides and activities.
Buttons are $25 each until May 31 for all events, including the two top acts Friday and Saturday nights, the Friday night barbecue and ice cream social, and of the offerings on Saturday. Some events require an additional entry fee and amusements also are additional. Buttons then will be $35.
Children 10 and under get in free.
A Saturday pass will be available for $6 for those 11 and older.
A non-denominational Sunday church service will be June 7 at USD 408 Performing Arts Center, just southeast of Central Park.
