Florence changes auditors after 15 years

Change is in the books for Florence, which voted to switch accounting firms for auditing services after more than a decade at a special council meeting Monday.

The city has been using the services of accountant Vonda Brecheisen of Knudsen, Monroe and Company for 15 years.

Council members interviewed accountants from three firms, and chose Scot Loyd of Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk and Loyd.

Council member Trayce Warner was the lone vote in opposition, but said it was not for lack of confidence in Loyd’s services.

“I’ve run into him all over the place, and I like him,” she said. “I tend to feel those services are best performed by people who know you. We had 15 years of experience with Knudsen, Monroe, so there were no real surprises.”

No reason was given for the change, but Brecheisen and Loyd listed similar prices and services for auditing.

“I’m not really upset about it, I just feel more loyalty is due,” Warner said.
