Florence alumni gather

The 116th Florence Alumni Banquet was May 26 at the Florence Gymnasium with 134 alumni, guests, and teachers attending.

The banquet included guests all the way back to the class of 1943. Special recognition was given to the classes of 1947, 1952, 1957, and 1962, all seated at the head table, as well as 1967.

Alumni traveled to the banquet from seven states: Texas, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Kansas, with 20 Kansas towns represented.

Florence had the most alumni residents, with 19, followed by Wichita, 15; and Marion, 13.

Mike Robinson of the class of 1967 was the master of ceremonies.

Adam Cope, recipient of the 2011 Florence High School Alumni Association Scholarship, spoke about his first year at Kansas State University.

Kadecha Gueary received this year’s $1,000 scholarship.

The 117th banquet is scheduled for May 25, 2013.
