Florence firefighters will be lighting a fire under the griddle at the Florentine Building when they hold their annual pancake feed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 5.
Chief Mark Slater said a group of six will get there early to have things ready for the early birds, and most department members will be there.
“I can usually almost always get all my guys there from start to finish,” Slater said. “We end up with our full crew.”
New nozzles and hose top the list of uses for event proceeds, Slater said
Attendees also will get to meet Florence’s newest firefighter, Kaycee Chermak. Slater said he wants to buy some breathing masks for firefighters of similar size to Chermak because the department’s regular masks don’t seal properly.
Beginning at 12:30 p.m., Slater will talk about department activities for the past year.
Donations will be accepted, Slater said.
