Final buzzer for Warriors

Staff writer

The Peabody-Burns boys’ basketball team lost to Moundridge 52-31 Monday during 2A substate play to round out the season with a 14-15 record.

“The loss was disappointing,” coach Caleb Good said. “It was not one of our better performances for the season.”

The Warriors trailed 8-15 at the end of the first quarter and by halftime, Moundridge led 30-14.

Peabody-Burns outscored Moundridge in the third quarter 13-11, but with only 4 points scored in the fourth quarter, the Warriors couldn’t gain any ground.

Good said the Warriors only gave up 10 turnovers. However, each turnover was “very costly.”

Braxton Kyle led the Warriors in scoring with 20 points, Kornelius Skotaam followed with 5 points, and Junior Edmondson and Cody Partridge each scored 2 points.

Overall, Good was proud of the team’s performance throughout the season.

“It was fun watching them get better, learn fundamentals, play hard, and grow as players and teammates,” he said. “We will depart many seniors that carried us for the season.”

Good was thankful for his seniors’ contributions. Looking to the future, he said they helped set the base for the Warriors program.

“Next year, we will have to be quick learners as we will not have much experience returning to the varsity floor,” Good said. “Cody Partridge and Austin Reynolds will be called upon to be team leaders.”
