FFA participates in events

Peabody-Burns Chapter of FFA organized and participated in FFA Week, Feb. 23-27.

Among the activities was a work auction Feb. 23, where PBHS agriculture education teacher Glenn Bechtel garnished the most money.

Kansas FFA President Emily Surdez and Kansas FFA Treasurer Jennipher Butler gave a presentation Feb. 24 about agriculture and FFA.

On Feb. 25, the local organization had implement day when Heather Brooks, Nick Morgan, Zach Goodwin, Chris Brooks, and Derek Schmidt drove tractors to school, taking a couple of trips on Main Street.

FFA members were at school at 5 a.m. Thursday to help setup and cook breakfast for students.

The Ag Olympics was Friday with events of hay bale bucking, seed spitting, a wheelbarrow relay, and steer-head roping. The teams and points were BPA 621, teachers 573, FCCLA 139, and STUCO 490.

“FFA and everyone who participated had a blast,” said Derek Schmidt, FFA reporter.
