FFA members compete

FFA members from area schools competed in two career development events last week — one at Fort Scott, the other at Arkansas City.
At Fort Scott, they competed in farm management, floriculture, vet science, food science, entomology, freshmen speech, and creed.
Top Centre placers were greenhands in speech competition Kaitlynn Bina, first; Hayley Whitely, sixth; and Robert Spohn, seventh.
At Ark City, a south-central district meet included competitions in meats, floriculture, and agronomy.
The Centre senior team of Bradley Alexander, Jorja Peterson, Leah Brunner, Emilee Remmers, Allie Stuchlik, Julia Brunner, and Karsen Kroupa placed first overall in agronomy. Karsen Kroupa placed second; Brunner, third; Stuchlik, fourth; and Remmers, seventh.
The Centre greenhand team of Dwayne Moenning, Daniel Moenning, Andy Madron, Hailey Barton Whitcomb, Kaitlynn Bina, Robert Spohn, Jenna Bittle, and Haley Whitely placed third overall. Whitely placed fifth; Bittle, sixth; and Spohn, seventh.
Members of Marion/Florence FFA received third place in floriculture. Top placers were Mickelly Soyez, second; and Belladonna Toy, fourth. Breanna Mallory and Austin Marsden also were on the team.
Luke Watkins of Marion/Florence placed second in greenhand meats evaluation. Sara Groening finished 12th.
Karley Loewen of Hillsboro FFA placed sixth in senior floriculture, and Kenzie Meisinger placed sixth in Greenhand meats. The senior team finished in 10th place.
