Fern Rene Korbe

Fern Rene Korbe, 51, of McPherson, died Jan. 28, 2012, at Cedars Health Care Center in McPherson.

She was born Jan. 25, 1961, to Marilyn Fern (Bruce) and Gerald Lee Winslow in McPherson.

She attended McPherson elementary schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 1979. She received licensed practical nurse certification from McPherson Memorial Hospital’s nursing school.

She attended Kings Hiway Baptist Church in McPherson and was a member of the Jubilee Club of McPherson. She was a homemaker, worked for Red Coach Inn, and was an LPN at Northview Manor.

She married Norman Eugene Korbe on Aug. 16, 1980, at the First Church of the Nazarene in McPherson.

She is survived by her husband; children, Dawn Marie Korbe of Canton, Wendy Lee Korbe of McPherson, and Nicholas Ray Korbe of McPherson; her father; brothers Rick Gene Winslow of Marquette, James “Jim” Dean Winslow of Hillsboro, and Bruce Gerald Winslow of Moundridge; maternal grandmother Edna R. Bruce of McPherson; six grandchildren; and other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother; a brother, Lee Allen Winslow; paternal grandparents Estelle Lee (Thompson) Winslow and Forrest W. “Hap” Winslow; and maternal grandfather Marion Everet Bruce.

Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Glidden-Ediger Chapel in McPherson.

The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Kings Hiway Baptist Church with Pastor Martin Coon officiating. Burial will be at the McPherson Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kings Hiway Baptist Church and sent in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson KS 67460.
