Burns will join the list of Marion County communities with a farmers market this year.
Organizer Cindy Ward began asking around last year whether Burns residents had an interest in having a farmers market in town, as she sought advice from Scott Zogelman at the Florence Farmers Market. The response was positive, so the Burns Farmers Market will begin May 4.
The market will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. every Friday at the Burns gazebo, across from the Burns Café. Goods sold at the market must be homemade, handmade, or homegrown, Ward said Monday. She expects fruits and vegetables will be on sale, and possibly baked goods.
Anyone interested in having a booth at the farmers market can call Ward at (620) 726-5230.
