Farmers market dinner is Aug. 10

Contributing writer

“It’s More Than Food!” is the slogan of the farmers market in Peabody, and the upcoming community dinner is one more example of that attitude.

Hosted by Doyle Valley Farmers Market vendors at 6 p.m. Aug. 10, the dinner will be in Santa Fe Park at the south end of Walnut Street in Peabody. The park is the weekly location of the Saturday morning market.

The evening will feature great homegrown foods, entertainment, and the opportunity to relax and connect with newcomers, friends, neighbors, and community.

The menu will include smoked pork chops, buttered potatoes with parsley, summer dressing, sliced tomatoes, fire-and-ice tomatoes, zwieback, and homemade ice cream.

To help vendors to avoid waste or running out of food items, all tickets need to be purchased in advance, by Monday. Tickets are $9 and can be found at any vendor’s table at the Saturday farmers market. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit Jackrabbit Hollow or Maysville Mercantile in downtown Peabody, or call Debbie McSweeney (620-983-9234) or Marilyn Jones (620-983-2815). Come on down to the park — we hope to see you there!
