Applicants are being sought for the next KARL Inc. class of people engaged with agriculture and rural Kansas.

KARL is an intensive two-year program that includes a series of seminars throughout the United States and in Washington, District of Columbia. Members also take an international study tour.

This will be the 15th class of its kind and is limited to 30 people. Applications are due April 15. A selection committee will interview finalists in May, and the class roster will be announced in June.

Matthew Voth of Newton, Mark Harms of Lincolnville, Kevin Suderman and Bob Watson, both of Hillsboro, and Jon Schmidt of Goessel are KARL graduates.

“The overall goal for KARL is to further develop emerging leaders for Kansas,” said KARL president Jill Zimmerman. “Those who want to be on the leading edge of decisions that impact agriculture and rural communities will benefit greatly from going through this program. Graduates become part of a network and have gone on to serve in legislative bodies, farm and commodity organizations, agribusiness, and their local communities.”
