Farm loan deadline nears

The deadline for filing applications for emergency disaster loans for farmers and ranchers in Marion, Chase, and Morris counties is April 25.

Producers needing farm credit for drought, excessive heat, and high winds from Jan. 1 and continuing who think they are eligible for assistance should apply at the Farm Service Agency office at 3020 W. 18th Ave. Suite A, Emporia before April 25.

Loans covering physical and production losses may qualify for a 3.75 percent interest rate. Loans covering physical losses may replace installations, equipment, livestock, or buildings — including homes — lost through disaster. Loans covering production losses may be used for feed, seed, fertilizer, livestock, or to make payments on real estate and chattel debts.

To be eligible, an applicant must operate a family-size farm or ranch, be unable to get credit elsewhere, and have suffered a qualifying physical or production loss from the disaster.

For more information, call (620) 343-6944.
