Commissioners Monday approved spending $6,185.52 on improvements to help the food building at Marion County Fair meet health codes.
Fair Manager Kelli Savage said the upgrades also would “present an opportunity to market the building for year-round availability instead of the limited options we currently have.”
Renovations will include a water heater, exterior and interior door, dropped ceiling, heating unit, fiberglass reinforced walls, additional plumbing, replace kitchen sink, additional sink, and a stainless steel prepping table.
“What we have in there doesn’t really pass code,” Savage said. “This way we don’t have to worry about someone coming in here and saying we have to leave. We want to stop that from happening.”
Renovation will start before the fair July 22.
