The outreach committee of Peabody United Methodist Church will host a meal and fellowship from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. Cost is by donation to support mission projects.
This past year the outreach committee designated funds for several missions supported by the church as well as several hometown projects and a new idea was tried — four church groups or classes received “seed faith money.”
The money was to be used to earn money for a mission of their choice. One class had a dinner and a singing group to entertain. Another group had a fall bazaar and dinner. Another class had a family party night. The fourth group purchased a griddle with the hope of fixing pancake dinners. A Peabody mission was chosen to receive at least half of the money earned.
Church members have also supported the Open Door Food Pantry in Wichita where about 3,000 families visit each month.
