Events fill Old Settlers’ Day weekend

Marion will celebrate its 106th annual Old Settlers’ Day this weekend.

On Friday, Marion Country Club will be open to the public from noon to midnight for all class reunion. There is no cost to enter. Members, prospective members, family, and friends can come at noon during the annual Old Settlers’ Day golf tournament or after the football game.

Besides the golf tournament, the country club offers a new bar, music, darts, cards, snacks, television, and an opportunity to chat with alumni visiting town.

Saturday’s parade on Main St. will begin at 11 a.m. This year’s theme is “Looking Forward to Our Next Century of Progress.”

The parade will be followed by a picnic in Central Park featuring sandwiches, chips, beans, pie, water, and soft drinks.
