Ethel Helmer

Ethel Helmer, 85, died Thursday at Memorial Home, Moundridge.

Born Aug. 25, 1923, at Moundridge, to C.H. and Lydia (Flickner) Kaufman, she graduated from Bethel College in 1945 and taught at Bunker Hill.

She married Ed Helmer in 1947. The couple lived and farmed near Burns. Ed preceded her in death.

She moved to Memorial Home and Pine Village in 2000.

Survivors include two sons, Burt of Andover and Kevin of El Dorado; two daughters, Kris Hayes-York of Winfield and Julie Morrison of Newton; four brothers, Howard, Virg, and Del Kaufman, all of Moundridge, and Lee Kaufman of Winfield; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday at Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge.

Burial followed in Pleasant Center Cemetery, near Burns.
