Estate benefits local groups

Peabody Community Foundation has announced that three groups in Peabody will split $235,000 from the estate of Rosemary Litton.

“This was a generous provision for the community,” Lynn Berns, foundation president, said. “The principle of the donation will remain in the foundation and grow. The groups that Rosemary named will receive the interest from that growth on an annual basis.”

Peabody-Burns High School Endowment, Peabody Historical Society, and Peabody Main Street are the recipients of Litton’s bequest. Each group will receive $78,333.

Berns made the announcement Feb. 12 at the annual PCF breakfast. She also acknowledged the assistance and cooperation of Rich Litton, trustee for the estate, in getting the estate settled.
