Employment program graduates first class

Three students were recognized for their successful completion of Tabor College’s Project SEARCH program at a graduation ceremony May 10 at Tabor.

Thomas Gill of Hillsboro, Ally Larson of Marion, and Ryan Hutton of North Newton were participants in the inaugural year of the program, which provides work skills training and job placement for students with special needs.

The student interns were mentored in three different occupations to develop new skills as they determined what vocation they would pursue.

“I am excited for graduation because it is an opportunity to celebrate all the hard work and dedication that these three interns put into this year,” project coordinator Rob Haude said. “Each one of our interns has secured employment of at least 16 hours.”

Project SEARCH is a partnership between Tabor College and Marion County Special Education Cooperative.
