Emilie “Johnnie” Herpich, 96, of Herington died March 27, 2012, at the Medicalodges of Herington. She was born Dec. 19, 1915, near White City to George F. and Flora T. (Yakle) Herpich.
She worked for Sandra’s Bakery for 20 years, then for Stiles Thriftway for 15 years until she retired. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shady Brook. She was an avid bowler for many years.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Harvey Herpich, Edward Herpich, George Herpich Jr., and Fred Herpich Sr.; and seven sisters, Laurena Schlesener, Ella Timm, Anna Herpich, Clara Schlesener, Mabel Masenthin, Lily Beavers, and Edith Hasker.
Her funeral will be Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, (Shady Brook) Herington, with the Rev. John Riebhoff officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, White City. Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
