Technical difficulties related to a power failure prevented monitoring of transmissions.

AUG. 5

10:12 p.m. — A 90-year-old man with a cardiac condition was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke Hospital, Marion, to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

THURSDAY

1:11 a.m. — A 34-year-old man with a cardiac condition was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Wesley.

8:22 a.m. — Partially garbled transmissions indicate a 90-year-old man was found dead at his home in the 400 block of N. Coble St. in Marion.

4:42 p.m. — A 71-year-old woman with heart failure was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

FRIDAY

1:23 p.m. — A female inmate whose throat was swelling shut at Marion County Jail was examined by Marion ambulance attendants and taken to a hospital by sheriff’s department employees. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

SATURDAY

12:04 a.m. — At a deputy sheriff’s request, Marion ambulance attendants checked a 70-year-old man at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen, for heat exhaustion. He declined to be taken to a hospital.

8:47 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters using a drone and two boats brought to shore a 14-foot fishing boat carrying four people who became stranded on Marion Reservoir between Durham and French Creek coves.

5:21 p.m. — A field fire that started as an unattended controlled brush fire and spread to a tree row, threatening a backhoe near 110th and Pawnee Rds., was extinguished within 30 minutes by Peabody firefighters. Marion firefighters initially were paged in error.

5:58 p.m. — A 66-year-old woman with congestive heart failure was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from Peabody Health and Rehab to St. Luke.

8:31 p.m. — Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered by Tampa and Hillsboro ambulance attendants to an unresponsive 76-year-old man who fell face-down in the 500 block of Main St. in Tampa. Tampa firefighters established a landing zone for a helicopter ambulance near the town ball diamond, but the patient apparently was pronounced dead before the helicopter arrived.

11:02 p.m. — A 66-year-old woman in respiratory arrest was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley. The ambulance’s departure was delayed until 1:06 a.m.

11:06 p.m. — A brush fire that spread into a tree line near US-56 and Nighthawk Rd. was checked by Marion firefighters but allowed to continue burning under control until morning.

11:36 p.m. — A report of an odor thought to be from natural gas leaking from a stove inside a residence in the 300 block of S. Main St. in Hillsboro was determined by Hillsboro firefighters to be a false alarm.

SUNDAY

4:44 p.m. — Fire that engulfed a pickup truck at 290th and Limestone Rds. and caused secondary explosions in its cargo was extinguished within 25 minutes by Tampa and Durham firefighters.

6:11 p.m. — A 59-year-old woman who fell and hurt her knee in a kitchen at Salem Home in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. Hillsboro firefighters helped lift the patient.

MONDAY

4:32 a.m. — An 89-year-old man at Parkside Homes assisted living was helped up by Hillsboro ambulance attendants. He declined to be taken to a hospital.

10:53 a.m. — A 68-year-old woman having trouble breathing at a home in the 100 block of N. Maple St. in Peabody was taken to NMC Health, Newton, by Hillsboro ambulance.

6:28 p.m. — A 73-year-old man who suffered a heart attack was transferred by Marion ambulance on an emergency basis from St. Luke to Wesley.

6:33 p.m. — A 16-year-old boy profusely bleeding from his head, gashed when a weight fell on him at Diamond C Fitness in Marion, was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance, which arrived 14 minutes after being dispatched.
