Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:
SEPT. 19
1:56 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to a false alarm generated by work on alarm circuits at Hillsboro Industries.
4:08 p.m. — A woman in her 80s who fell at Homestead Affordable Housing in Marion was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
11:02 p.m. — A 59-year-old woman having trouble breathing at a home in the 300 block of County Rd. in Tampa was taken to St. Luke by Tampa ambulance.
11:10 p.m. — An 81-year-old woman with a rapid heart rate at Peabody Health and Rehab declined to be taken to a hospital.
SEPT. 20
2:12 a.m. — An 82-year-old woman who activated a medical alarm after falling in a bathroom at a home in the 300 block of S. 3rd St. in Marion declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.
1:02 p.m. — Ramona and Tampa firefighters were dispatched to a tractor fire on 340th Rd. between Mustang and Nighthawk Rds., but the fire was extinguished before most of them arrived.
8:37 p.m. — Lehigh firefighters were dispatched to investigate a false alarm from a carbon monoxide detector in the 300 block of E. Main St. in Lehigh. A Hillsboro firefighter helped check the residence.
9:24 p.m. — A 90-year-old woman with head trauma was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
THURSDAY
3:33 a.m. — A 74-year-old woman with a severe nosebleed was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from Parkside Homes to HCH.
3:05 p.m. — An uninjured 58-year-old woman who slid out of bed at Oakwood Manor apartments in Hillsboro was helped up by Hillsboro ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.
6:14 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance, on standby for a sports event, examined a patient who declined to be taken to a hospital.
7:05 p.m. — An 18-year-old boy who fell and possibly dislocated or broke an ankle in the 100 block of Main St. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
8:26 p.m. — A 29-year-old man receiving an infusion of heart medication at St. Luke was transferred by Marion ambulance to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Marion at 11:43 p.m.
9:06 p.m. — Peabody ambulance was dispatched to a report of a person keeled over in pain at Olive and 8th Sts. in Peabody, but a police officer investigating the report canceled the call.
FRIDAY
No dispatches.
SATURDAY
2:56 a.m. — An unconscious 33-year-old man in the 400 block of S. Birch St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance, Marion ambulance also responded.
11:20 a.m. — A 63-year-old who fell at Parkside Homes was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
12:21 p.m. — Peabody firefighters responded to a false alarm at Westview Manor in Peabody.
3:44 p.m. — A 66-year-old woman with sepsis was transferred from St. Luke to St. Francis by Hillsboro ambulance, filling in without explanation for Marion ambulance.
4:56 p.m. — En route back from Wichita, Hillsboro ambulance was dispatched along with a lone first responder in Peabody ambulance to the 300 block of N. Maple St. in Peabody for a 79-year-old man who fell and could not get up. Dispatchers used code words that in the past indicated the patient might have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Peabody firefighters were called to help lift the patient. Hillsboro ambulance took the patient to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 6:57 p.m.
SUNDAY
10:53 a.m. — Fire in two hay bales and adjacent grass near 180th and Eagle Rds. was brought under control within 1½ hours by Hillsboro firefighters. Hillsboro ambulance was dispatched to check a firefighter for possible heat exhaustion, but the firefighter declined to be taken to a hospital.
7:21 p.m. — A 63-year-old man who fell and hurt his hip at Parkside Homes was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
11:11 p.m. — A 42-year-old woman not feeling well in the 100 block of E. 9th St. in Florence was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance after she stopped breathing on her own. Florence first responders were paged but did not answer. Florence firefighters were dispatched to assist.
MONDAY
3:13 a.m. — An 89-year-old man who fell at a farmhouse near190th and Kanza Rds. declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
8:21 a.m. — A 68-year-old woman with a fractured leg was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health. The ambulance returned to Marion at 10:16 p.m.
5:05 p.m. — A 61-year-old woman having trouble breathing while standing at a home in the 200 block of N. Maple St. in Peabody went to a hospital by private vehicle instead of Peabody ambulance.
7:02 p.m. — Marion ambulance checked a patient while on standby at a football game, but the patient declined to be taken to a hospital.
7:09 p.m. — A meter leaking natural gas after being struck by a vehicle in an alley in the 500 block of N. Walnut St. in Peabody was plugged by Peabody firefighters before an Atmos Energy crew more than an hour away arrived.
