Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

DEC. 7

6:44 a.m. — A 64-year-old man was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke Hospital to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita.

DEC. 8

9:29 a.m. — A Salem Home resident threatening to harm himself while going through withdrawal was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance. Marion ambulance assisted with the call.

2:07 p.m. — A 83-year-old woman with knee pain for a fall the day before was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center from the 400 block of E. Marion St. in Goessel. A first responder from Goessel helped with the call.

8:21 p.m. — A 72-year-old woman complaining of weakness was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Med from the 600 block of W. 3rd St. in Peabody. A sole emergency medical technician in Peabody ambulance acted as a first responder.

10:22 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was dispatched to Salem Home after an 81-year-old man was reported to be unresponsive. Outcome of the call was not recorded.

THURSDAY

12:52 p.m. — A man in his 70s with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and difficulty breathing after suffering cold-like symptoms for several days declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance from 300 block of S. Lincoln St. in Marion.

1:11 p.m. — Tampa ambulance responded to a report of a woman coughing up blood and having trouble breathing in the 700 block of Lawrence St. in Durham. Technical difficulties prevented recording of the outcome of the call.

5:23 p.m. — Marion ambulance transferred a patient to St. Luke. Additional information about the call was not recorded because of technical difficulties.

6:02 p.m. — Lincolnville firefighters and Tampa ambulance were summoned after an automobile monitoring service reported receiving a crash signal from a vehicle in the 500 block of Topeka St. in Lincolnville. No accident was found.

FRIDAY

9:21 a.m. — A 77-year-old woman who fell and hurt her leg at an apartment in the 400 block of N. Ash St. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

1:12 p.m. — A 70-year-old woman who fell and hit her head was taken by Peabody ambulance from the 400 block of Locust St. in Peabody to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. The ambulance was diverted there from Newton Med.

3:59 p.m. — A call to Hillsboro ambulance was only partially recorded on newspaper equipment.

11:28 p.m. — Marion ambulance was dispatched to St. Luke to provide help with a patient.

SATURDAY

2:05 a.m. — A 99-year-old woman who fell at Parkside Homes and was bleeding from her head was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

8:11 a.m. — A pregnant 18-year-old who passed out and was bleeding at Carlsons’ Grocery in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. Hillsboro ambulance initially responded as well but was told to disregard the call.

10 a.m. — A smoking oil well motor near a house on US-56/77 north of 230th Rd. was turned off by Lincolnville firefighters.

10:16 a.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Newton Med by Marion ambulance.

2:02 p.m. — A 39-year-old man suffering seizures at Salem Home was transferred to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. Marion ambulance helped with the call.

SUNDAY

10:48 a.m. — An 83-year-old woman having trouble breathing was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Med from the 400 block of Marion St. in Goessel. A Goessel first responder and the county ambulance service’s shift supervisor assisted with the call.

12:20 p.m. — Burns firefighters helped fight a large out-of-county grass fire west of El Dorado.

2:40 p.m. — An 82-year-old woman in an apparent diabetic coma at a home near Kansas Ave. and Alamo Rd. on the west edge of Goessel was taken to Newton Med by Hillsboro ambulance. A Goessel first responder assisted with the call.

11:27 p.m. — A 54-year-old man was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Kansas Heart.

MONDAY

3:48 a.m. — A man who fell at a residence near Sunrise Rd. and US-56 declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

12:36 p.m. — Marion ambulance was sent to help a woman having trouble breathing at a farmhouse near 180th and Wagon Wheel Rds. Resolution of the call was not recorded.
