Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JUNE 1

12:02 a.m. — A 23-year-old woman who may not have been taking anti-seizure medication was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, from the 100 block of W. 7th St. in Florence. Florence first responders were paged but did not answer the call.

4:18 a.m. — A 77-year-old woman who felt ill and an 89-year-old man who felt ill, fell, and hurt his head, both after receiving COVID-19 vaccinations, were checked by EMTs from Marion and Peabody ambulances. One patient was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke from a farmhouse near 120th and Sunflower Rds. The other apparently declined hospitalization. Hillsboro ambulance initially was dispatched, but EMTs questioned whether the call more appropriately should have gone to Marion ambulance.

6:23 a.m. — A 82-year-old woman found lying on the ground in the 500 block of S. Wilson St. in Hillsboro was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance. Marion ambulance and Hillsboro firefighters initially were dispatched as well but were told to disregard the call.

6:46 p.m. — A 58-year-old woman experiencing leg pain after surgery was taken by Peabody ambulance to Newton Medical Center from the 700 block of N. Prairie Lawn St. in Peabody.

7:00 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to a false alarm after an unknown person activated a pull alarm at Tabor College’s stadium.

8:06 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Via-Christi-St., Francis, Wichita, by Marion ambulance.

june 2

5:31 a.m. — An 86-year-old woman accidentally activated a medical alarm in the in the 1500 block of Lawrence St., Marion. A call to Marion ambulance was canceled.

10:40 a.m. — A 70-year-old woman having difficulty breathing at Indian Guide Apartments, Peabody, was taken to St. Luke by Peabody ambulance.

1:23 p.m. — A 83-year-old man who fell in a doorway in the 300 block of S. Jefferson St., Hillsboro, was helped up but declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

2:25 p.m. — An 85-year-old man who was weak and feeling sick in the 200 block of S. Kennedy St., Hillsboro, was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:25 p.m. — An 83-year-old with back pain at Salem Home, Hillsboro, was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

10:04 p.m. — A 5-month-old who was bleeding from his mouth in the 400 block of S. Main St., Hillsboro, was taken to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita by Hillsboro ambulance.

10:15 p.m. — A 97-year-old woman who fell in the 100 block of Eisenhower St., Marion, was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

thursday

9:25 a.m. — A 60-year-old woman who fell in the 1500 block of Victory Lane, Marion, was helped up but declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. Two Marion firefighters were called for lifting assistance.

2:05 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Salem Home, Hillsboro, by Marion ambulance.

4:57 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Newton Med by Marion ambulance.

8:56 p.m. — A medical alarm was accidentally activated in the 100 block of Eisenhower Dr., Marion, a call to Marion ambulance was canceled.

11:02 p.m. — Peabody, Florence, and Burns firefighters were called to a alarm at Westview Manor, Peabody. Residents were evacuated, but no fire or smoke was found.

11:05 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Via Christi-St. Francis by Marion ambulance.

friday

1:00 a.m. — A 35-year-old woman having difficulty breathing on Smith St., in Lost Springs was taken to Herington Hospital by Tampa ambulance.

4:08 a.m. — Tampa ambulance was sent to a one-vehicle accident near 290th and Mustang Rds., but no one was taken to a hospital.

11:51 a.m. — An HCH patient was transferred to Newton Med by Hillsboro ambulance.

3:49 p.m. — A wheelchair that was stuck in mud at Homestead Apartments, Marion, was freed by Marion firefighters.

6:37 p.m. — A 62-year-old woman who fell in the 1500 block of Victory Lane, Marion, was taken to HCH by Marion ambulance.

8:35 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Via Christi - St. Francis by Marion ambulance.

11:08 p.m. — Florence firefighters and Marion and Peabody ambulance was called to an accident in which a car hit a cow near US-50 and Yarrow Rd., but no one was taken to a hospital.

saturday

12:24 a.m. — An HCH patient was transferred to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, by Hillsboro ambulance.

6:21 p.m. — An inmate who may have overdosed at Marion County Jail was taken to Newton Med by Marion ambulance.

9:53 p.m. — An HCH patient was transferred to Wesley by Hillsboro ambulance.

sunday

2:34 p.m. — A woman not feeling well in the 200 block of W. 6th St., Florence, was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

3:27 p.m. — A 71-year-old woman who was vomiting and feeling sick in the 500 block of N. Vine St., Peabody, was taken to St. Luke by Peabody ambulance.

6:53 p.m. — An HCH patient was transferred to St. Francis by Hillsboro ambulance.

monday

8:24 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters were called to Parkside Home for a fire alarm, but no fire or smoke was found.

12:57 p.m. — Goessel firefighters were called to Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel, for a false alarm caused by work being done.

2:34 p.m. — A St. Francis patient was transferred to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

4:45 p.m. — A 55-year-old who was feeling weak in the 400 block of N. 4th St., Marion, was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

10:28 p.m. — To test for drugs or alcohol, Marion ambulance drew blood from a newly jailed inmate at Marion County Jail.
