These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper.

Oct. 31

11:17 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke Hospital was taken by Marion ambulance to McPherson Hospital.

nov. 1

2:02 p.m. — Peabody ambulance was dispatched in Peabody, with EMS director Ed Debesis and Marion ambulance also responding. Patient location and condition information could not be determined due to garbled transmissions. Subsequently, an individual described as “code red,” indicating life-threatening symptoms, was taken to Newton Medical Center.

thursday

5:39 a.m. — Florence ambulance responded to the 100 block of E. 9th St. in Florence; the condition of the patient could not be determined due to garbled transmissions. Marion ambulance also responded, but both units left the scene without transporting anyone to a hospital.

5:48 a.m. — A person with abdominal pain and vomiting blood in the 200 block of S. Fuller St. in Goessel was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center. Goessel first responders assisted.

9:50 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke described as “code red” was taken by Marion ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. EMS director Ed Debesis assisted with the transport.

friday

2:11 p.m. — A child with a possible rectal prolapse in the 500 block of E. Grand St. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

4:10 p.m. — Tampa ambulance was paged out for a medical alarm, but was called off when the alarm company reported it was a false alarm.

5:01 p.m. — Peabody firefighters were paged for a gas meter that had been struck in the 700 block of N. Elm St., but six minutes later the call was terminated.

5:24 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

saturday

8:51 a.m. — Peabody ambulance took an individual to Newton Medical Center. An initial dispatch indicating patient information and location was not recorded by the newspaper’s system.

10:18 a.m. — Burns first responders and Florence ambulance were dispatched for a possible death in the 500 block of N. Ohio St. in Burns. At 10:33 a.m., EMS director Ed Debesis, who also responded, requested a coroner.

2:33 p.m. — A woman in her 80s who fell and hit her head in the 200 block of W. 2nd St. in Peabody was assisted by Florence ambulance attendants after Peabody did not respond to an initial page. No one was taken to a hospital.

5:20 p.m. — Tampa firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at 370th Rd. and K-15. Shortly after arrival, a firefighter requested Tampa ambulance be dispatched. One individual was taken to Abilene Memorial Hospital.

5:40 p.m. — A woman who felt like she was going to pass out in the 1100 block of Denver St. was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

sunday

2:40 p.m. — A woman in her 50s who was reportedly assaulted and hit in the head on 340th Rd. between Upland and Vista Rds. was assisted by Tampa ambulance. No one was taken to a hospital. Lincolnville first responders also assited.

4:21 p.m. — A woman in her 50s in the 200 block of E. Division St.who reportedly threatened to take an overdose of pills was examined by Peabody ambulance attendants, who reported the woman declined to be taken to a hospital.

10:11 p.m. — A rotten egg smell in an apartment in the 500 block of Grand St. was determined by Hillsboro firefighters to have been caused by dust on a furnace heat exchanger.

monday

1:04 p.m. — A man with breathing difficulties and chest pain on Eagle Rd. between 170th and 180th Rd. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH.

2:06 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was directed to go to Wendy’s restaurant where an individual was reported to be receiving CPR. En route to the scene, a Hillsboro EMT requested Hillsboro firefighters and Marion ambulance be sent to assist. After the situation was assessed, Marion ambulance was dismissed. An individual described as “code red” was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH.

4:29 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

6:30 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Peabody ambulance to Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.
