These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper.

sept. 12

10:52 a.m. — A report was received of a man having a seizure in a car one mile west of Marion on 190th Rd. Marion ambulance was dispatched, but responders did not find a vehicle or patient in the area and returned to the station.

11:49 a.m. — A gas meter that was struck by a vehicle and was leaking in the alley between Roosevelt and Freeborn Sts. a half-block south of Main St. was shut off by Marion firefighters.

1:54 p.m. — Durham and Tampa firefighters assisted Roxbury firefighters with a grain elevator fire in Roxbury.

5:37 p.m. — A patient at Hillsboro Community Hospital was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

sept. 13

1:31 p.m. — A gas leak at Lincolnville Community Center was shut off by Lincolnville firefighters.

7:33 p.m. — A person having a seizure in the 700 block of Vine St. in Peabody was taken by Peabody ambulance to St. Luke Hospital.

thursday

7:26 p.m. — Peabody firefighters were paged for a smoke alarm going off at Peabody Health and Rehab, but the call was terminated after the alarm company reported the alarm malfunctioned.

12:01 p.m. — An alarm company reported a fire alarm at Westview Manor in Peabody. Firefighters were dispatched, but it proved to be a false alarm.

6:10 p.m. — A man who fell from his wheelchair in the 300 block of E. C St. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Hillsboro Community Hospital. Hillsboro firefighters helped lift the man.

7:44 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Salina Regional Health Center.

7:46 p.m. — A woman with chest pains in the 200 block of E. Division St. was taken by Peabody ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

8:12 p.m. — A woman with breathing difficulties in the 800 block of Main St. in Florence was taken by Florence ambulance to St. Luke.

friday

2:59 p.m. — Florence firefighters monitored an unspecified electric issue at an undetermined location until a Westar repair truck arrived at the scene.

saturday

6:56 a.m. — An individual with an unspecified condition at Indian Guide Apartments was taken by Peabody ambulance to St. Luke.

8:04 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to French Creek Cove at Marion Reservoir for a man who leaned over and was shaking but was caught before he fell. Ambulance personnel reported the man was being taken by a private vehicle to a hospital.

9:33 a.m. — A vehicle on US-56 between Mustang and Nighthawk Rds. crossed the road and went into a ditch where it struck a tree. Marion and Hillsboro ambulances and Marion firefighters responded to the scene, but no individuals were taken to a hospital.

3:53 p.m. — An officer requested Hillsboro ambulance be sent to the 500 block of S. Washington St. An individual was taken to HCH.

8:16 p.m. — Two vehicles collided and went into the north ditch on K-150 east of Yarrow Rd., and Marion and Florence firefighters and ambulances from Marion, Florence, and Peabody were sent to the scene. Lifeteam helicopter could not fly due to storms in the area, so Marion ambulance took two individuals to Via Christi – St. Francis. Brooke Smith, 22, Emporia, was declared dead at the scene by a deputy county coroner.

sunday

3:47 a.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis.

2:45 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis.

10:02 p.m. — A woman having a stroke at a Cottonwood Point campground at Marion Reservoir was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to St. Luke.

10:11 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

11:19 p.m. — Tampa ambulance was paged to transfer a stroke patient from St. Luke to a Wichita hospital. Hillsboro ambulance radioed it was still in Marion and that it would do the transfer after picking up oxygen. The patient was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis.

monday

5:38 a.m. — A person who fell on Diamond Rd. between 90th and 100th Rds. was assisted by Hillsboro ambulance. The person was not taken to a hospital.

7:14 a.m. — A woman in her 60s who fell in the 1500 block of Victory Lane was assisted by Marion ambulance. The woman was not taken to a hospital.

8:20 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to Parkside Homes for a sprinkler fire alarm. Flowing water in a mechanical room was stopped and the alarm panel was reset.
