According to fire and ambulance transmissions, monitored by the newspaper:

april 7

12:48 p.m. — A dispatch was issued for Hillsboro first responders and Marion ambulance to respond to “Hilltop Apartments, 1508 E. Lawrence in Hillsboro,” for a woman in her 80s who was vomiting, and re-issued at 12:49 p.m. At 12:50 p.m a responder radioed the dispatcher that there was no Lawrence St. in Hillsboro. Hillsboro first responders terminated their response, and the ambulance proceeded to Hilltop Apartments in Marion. The woman was transported to St. Luke Hospital.

4:31 p.m. — Peabody firefighters were dispatched to the intersection of 60th and Remington Rds. for a vehicle fire. At 4:42 p.m. a transmission from Peabody truck No. 2 reported the vehicle fire was at 60th and Timber Rds. Florence firefighters were dispatched to provide mutual aid. The vehicle was destroyed.

April 8

9:04 p.m. — A Peabody storm watcher reported sighting a funnel cloud approximately four miles southwest of 30th and Limestone Rds. Tornado sirens were sounded in Peabody as a precautionary measure. At 9:09 p.m., the dispatcher reported on a contact with the National Weather Service, in which they said they could not confirm a tornado, and that the storm was weakening.

thursday

12:02 a.m. — Goessel firefighters responded to the intersection of Wheat and Main Sts. for a broken power pole.

5:12 a.m. — An individual reported to be experiencing a possible stroke was transported by Hillsboro ambulance from the 300 block of S. Wilson St. to Newton Medical Center.

10:43 a.m. — Peabody ambulance and firefighters were dispatched to the 700 block of Elm St. for a child “with a hand stuck in something.” Florence ambulance was dispatched when Peabody reported having just first responder capability, but was terminated when a second Peabody responder was located. No transportation was provided.

1:14 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Ash St. for a medical alarm. Upon arrival, EMTs found no one at the scene, and returned to the station.

friday

8:53 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance, firefighters, and rescue were dispatched to 150th and Indigo Rds. for a one-vehicle accident. One person was transported to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

9:06 a.m. — Peabody ambulance was paged for a man who was vomiting 600 block of E. 5th St. Upon getting no response, Marion ambulance was dispatched for the call. At 9:13 a.m. a Peabody first responder reported he was in transit to the scene. Marion ambulance transported the man to St. Luke Hospital.

12:12 p.m. — Marion ambulance transported a patient from St. Luke Hospital to Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

4:06 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to a grass fire on Diamond Rd. between 220th and 230th Rds.

5:16 p.m. — Marion firefighters responded to a grass fire at 260th and Zebulon Rds.

saturday

5:59 p.m. — Peabody firefighters responded to the intersection of 5th and Vine Sts. for a vehicle fire. At 6:01 p.m. a firefighter reported the fire, which was confined to a carburetor, was out.

7:25 p.m. — A woman in her 70s reported by the dispatcher to be “in and out of consciousness” was transported by Marion ambulance from the 400 block of S. Freeborn St. to St. Luke Hospital.

sunday

6:02 a.m. — A woman with chest pains was transported by Tampa ambulance from the 300 block of N. B St. in Ramona to St. Luke Hospital.

monday

1:12 p.m. — Florence ambulance was dispatched to the 200 block of W. 4th St. to provide lifting assistance to a man in his 70s who fell. No transportation was provided.

10:22 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to Hillsboro Community Hospital to investigate a report of a smell of hot wires. Smoke was discovered in a room housing a copy machine. A faulty blower motor was determined to be the source of the smoke.
