According to fire and ambulance transmissions, monitored by the newspaper:

dec. 21

4:57 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transported from Bethesda Home to Newton Medical Center a woman who fell and cut her head.

5:57 p.m. — Marion ambulance transported from the 1500 block of E. Lawrence St. to St. Luke Hospital a woman in her 80s with breathing difficulties and chest pain.

6:13 p.m. — Peabody ambulance transported to Newton Medical Center a woman in her 80s who fell and hit her head at Peabody Care Center.

6:14 p.m. — With Marion ambulance on a call, Hillsboro ambulance transported from 1500 E. Main St. to St. Luke Hospital a woman in her 60s who was vomiting and experiencing shortness of breath.

11:43 p.m. — Peabody ambulance transported to Newton Medical Center a woman in her 80s who fell and hit her head at from Peabody Care Center.

Dec. 22

9:41 p.m. — Marion ambulance responded to the 800 block of Prairie Lawn St. in Peabody for a man who reportedly needed assistance getting into a car to go to a medical appointment. After assessment by a Peabody first responder, the man was transported to Newton Medical Center.

dec. 23

12:07 p.m. — Peabody ambulance responded to 20th Rd. between Limestone and Kanza Rds. for a woman who reported feeling “very sick.” The woman was not transported.

dec. 24

9:58 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to a false alarm at Parkside Homes.

6:06 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to a gas leak at Dollar General. Atmos Energy was called to repair it.

11:22 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance and firefighters responded to a one-vehicle accident two miles east of Hillsboro on 190th Rd. A passer-by reported a damaged Ford F-150 in the ditch. A driver with a possible broken leg was transported to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

thursday

1:37 a.m. — Goessel first responders and Hillsboro ambulance responded to an electronic medical alert from a man who fell in the 600 block of E. Marion St. Responders assessed the situation and canceled the ambulance call.

1:41 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters extinguished a brush fire on 190th Rd. between Jade and Kanza Rds.

2:01 p.m. — Marion ambulance transported a patient from St. Luke Hospital to McPherson Hospital.

5:39 p.m. — Marion ambulance was paged for a man in his 40s with chest pains in the 300 block of N. Walnut St. in Peabody. EMTs requested a Peabody first responder be paged. When the request was broadcast, it was discovered Peabody had an ambulance crew available to respond. Peabody ambulance transported the man to Newton Medical Center.

7:30 p.m. — Florence firefighters and and Florence and Marion ambulances responded to the US-77/50 roundabout for a car and semi accident blocking the eastbound lane. Initial dispatches reported no injuries.

friday

3:03 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was dispatched to an apartment at N. Ash and W. 3rd Sts. for a man in his 60s who was unresponsive. EMTs requested law enforcement to investigate a death.

12:36 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transported a man who fell who was reported to be disoriented, forgetful, and agitated from Jade Rd. between 180th and 190th Rds. to Hillsboro Community Hospital. Hillsboro firefighters helped lift.

2:28 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance provided advanced life support transport of a patient from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

5:29 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance provided advanced life support transport of a patient from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Wesley Medical Center.

7:54 p.m. — Goessel firefighters were paged for a report of a fire in a ditch on K-15 at milepost 121. After review of controlled burn information and contact with the landowner, the call was canceled.

saturday

6:27 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance and Goessel first responders were dispatched to the 300 block of Main St. in Goessel for a woman with high blood pressure requesting transport to Newton. Peabody ambulance was dispatched when Hillsboro did not respond. The ambulance call was canceled when first responders reported the woman was refusing transportation.

7:08 p.m. — Marion ambulance transported a man with dementia from the 200 block of N. 4th St. to St. Luke Hospital.

7:33 p.m. — Peabody firefighters responded to a report of a possible fire at the Baptist church at Vine and 3rd Sts. The call was terminated when it was determined the source of smoke was a fireplace chimney from a nearby house.

11:01 p.m. — Peabody ambulance transported a person from the 600 block of N. Walnut St. to St. Luke Hospital for an evaluation.
