These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper.

Oct. 24

1:10 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke Hospital was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

oct. 25

10 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

3:50 p.m. — A medical alarm company advised that a woman in her 80s with diabetes in the 200 block of E. Commercial St. was in need of assistance. Hillsboro ambulance responded. No one was taken to a hospital.

4:01 p.m. — A man in his 90s who was unresponsive and barely breathing at the heated dock at Marion County Park and Lake was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

8:32 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Salina Regional Hospital.

10:24 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

2:26 p.m. — A man in the 100 block of Walnut St. in Peabody who reportedly had been drinking and ingested almost two bottles of Prozac was taken by Peabody ambulance to St. Luke.

2:41 p.m. — A patient at Hillsboro Community Hospital was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

friday

12:46 a.m. — A woman with severe side pain in the 800 block of N. Cedar St. was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

9:37 a.m. — A man complaining of pain after some equipment fell on him while pouring concrete on 230th Rd. between Alamo and Bison Rds. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to McPherson Hospital.

11:26 a.m. — Peabody ambulance, Marion ambulance, Marion rescue, and Florence firefighters were paged for a two-vehicle accident reported by the dispatcher to be “just south of the roundabout.” When the page was repeated, the dispatcher called for Florence ambulance, not Peabody, prompting attendants to call for clarification. Florence firefighters radioed to ask the dispatcher if “south of the roundabout” was south on US-50 or US-77, and was told US-77. A Florence firefighter confirmed a few minutes later that the accident was a mile south of Florence on US-77. The incident appeared to involve one disabled vehicle with debris in the road. No one was taken to a hospital.

1:05 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was placed on standby for an emotionally disturbed individual in the 300 block of N. Main St., and was told to proceed to the location at 1:18 p.m. The person was taken to HCH.

2:05 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Via Christi – St. Joseph in Wichita.

5:47 p.m. — A fire alarm at Tabor College townhomes appeared to be triggered by a cooking mishap. Hillsboro firefighters reset the alarm panel.

6:34 p.m. — An elderly main who fell and possibly broke a hip the 700 block of S. Lincoln St. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH.

8:07 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

9:23 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

saturday

2:56 a.m. — Tampa ambulance was dispatched for a woman possibly having a heart attack on 270th Rd. between Xavier and Yarrow Rds. Lincolnville first response was paged at 3:02 a.m., and after getting no response Lincolnville firefighters were paged; one responded. At 3:03 a.m., dispatchers reported giving CPR instructions to the reporting party. Tampa ambulance arrived at 3:30 a.m., and at 3:59 a.m. reported it was about 2 miles from St. Luke with attendants continuing to administer CPR. A Lifeteam helicopter was waiting at the hospital, but no transmissions indicating patient status, time of departure, or destination were recorded.

9:38 a.m. — A medical alarm company requested assistance for an individual in the 100 block of S. Walnut St. in Peabody. Peabody ambulance responded, but no one was taken to a hospital.

sunday

6:11 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

12:01 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to Nighthawk Rd. between 190th Rd. and US-56 for a medical alarm. Upon arrival it was discovered that the individual had been testing their alarm. No one was taken to a hospital.

3:17 p.m. — An individual with an unspecified condition who walked into the Marion ambulance station was taken to St. Luke.

4:18 p.m. — An unreported controlled burn of brush piles at 90th and Falcon Rds. spread into a field, prompting a call to Goessel firefighters to extinguish the fire.

4:34 p.m. — Marion ambulance reported it was en route from St. Luke to Newton Medical Center.

5:08 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

9:02 a.m. — A woman with breathing difficulties in the 100 block of S. Birch St. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH.
