Elmer "Gene" Schaffer

Elmer “Gene” Schaffer, 73, of Marion and formerly of Florence, died April 29 at Hospice House in Hutchinson.

Born June 4, 1937, in La Crosse, to Alexander and Rosalia (Legleiter) Schaffer, he was a contract power lineman.

Siblings John and Alice preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Jim of Kansas and Thomas of Brighton, Mo.; three daughters, Linda Pyle of Towanda, Kimberly Kellum of Burlison, Tenn., and Vickie Fine of Marion; three brothers, Bennie of Tallahassee, Fla., Albert of Kansas City, and Richard of Marion; three sisters, Blanche Doonan of Hoisington, Ida Pfeifer of La Crosse, Caroline Decker of Salina, and Dorothy Cavannah of Sedona, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday at Marion Christian Church.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Homecare of Reno County or Good News Fellowship in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.
