Edythe M. Wolfersperger Loomis Holub

An avid fisherman, Edie left this earth dreaming of catching that really big one. Edie was born Edythe M. Wolfersperger to Roy and Rose (Dunham) Wofersperger on March 17, 1926, in Lindsey. She died Oct. 5, 2008, at Legacy Park in Peabody. Edi lived most of her life in the Peabody area.

Edie was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1944. She worked at a variety of jobs. She was a waitress in the family-owned café and the Peabody Hotel coffee shop. She was a telephone operator in the Peabody office from 1951-1954, and clerk at Ross’s IGA until the death of her first husband, Paul R. Loomis. After, she went to Hesston Corp. as a machinist for several years. She was one of the first females hired at Hesston Corp. She retired from there due to a disability.

In February 1976, she married Edward F. Holub of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Rose (Dunham) Wolfersperger; two sisters, Marie Wolfersperger and Margymae Britton Grindstaff; two brothers, Glen M. Wolfersperger and John H. Wolfersperger; husbands, Paul R. Loomis and Edward F. Holub. Edie was the last member of the Roy and Rose Wolfersperger family.

She is survived by two nephews, Eldon D. Britton of Wichita and Dale A. Britton and wife Linda of Peabody; one niece, Karlyn R. Sherman and husband Dennis of New Strawn; many great-nieces and nephews, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews of the Wolfersperger, Britton, Loomis, and Holub families.

Viewing was Oct. 7 at Baker Funeral Home. Rosary and funeral Mass will be at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. Rosary will be at 2:30 p.m. and funeral mass at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday). Interment at Pilsen Cemetery following Mass.

Memorials may be made in Edie’s name to Father Kapaun Memorial in care of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of Baker Funeral Home.
