Edward Hein

Services for Edward Ray Hein, 96, of Hillsboro, who passed away July 22, 2021, at Hillsboro Community Hospital, were Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

A graveside service at Haven of Rest Cemetery was at 10 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 11 a.m. at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion.

Visitation with family was 6 to 8 p.m. July 27 at Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

Edward was born Oct 2, 1924, the second of three boys and three girls, to E.W. and Helen (Ediger) Hein.

Edward attended Finch Grade School and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1942.

He married Margaret Ruby on Aug. 10, 1948, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, now Eastmoor United Methodist Church, in Marion. They were active members there for almost 73 years.

Ed was a well-respected farmer and cattleman, with Margaret working alongside him. At the age of 94, he still was able to run his own combine for wheat harvest.

Survivors include wife Margaret of Parkside Assisted Living; daughters Karen Jaworsky (and husband Greg) of Newton and Janet Britton (and husband James) of Denver; son Dean Hein (and wife Beth) of Hillsboro; sisters Eileen Nickel of California and Melba Hill of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
