Duane Steinert
Funeral services for Duane Henry Steinert, 91, who passed away Dec. 10, 2024, will be 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 102 W. 5th St., Tampa. Burial and a luncheon will follow in Tampa.

Born Sept. 6, 1933, in Tampa to Henry and Lydia (Schwemmer) Steinert, Duane graduated from Tampa High School in 1951.
He was the second highest scoring basketball player in Kansas. He and his brother were on the Tampa city fast-pitch softball team that won the state championship in 1956.
On Dec. 9, 1972, Duane married Rosalie Bezdek. They had one son, Timothy.
Duane’s entire career was at Beechcraft, where he retired in 1998.
He loved KU basketball, coffee, and ice cream, yet nothing was as sweet as the sound of Duane and Tim revving up a 1953 Ford pickup truck every week.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur “Woody” and Agnes Steinert.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Annette Steinert of Wichita, and grandchildren Henry, Brooklyn, and Amelia Steinert.
