Drunk head-butts cop who gave him a lift
Peabody man arrested after allegedly spitting in another officer’s face

Marion’s assistant police chief’s attempt to give a ride to an apparently intoxicated man got him head-butted in the chest for his trouble this past week.
Officer Steve Janzen was dispatched to an alley in the 400 block of S. Coble to a report of two people lying in a back yard with backpacks on.
The man, Richard Todd Littleton, 31, appeared to be intoxicated. He told officers he wanted to be taken to Peabody. The woman was sober and left the scene without incident.
“When they got to Peabody he was not welcome at the place he wanted to go and he became upset,” patrol officer Duane McCarty said. “It went from there.”
Littleton then attempted to grab equipment off Janzen’s vest and head-butted him in the chest when the officer tried to restrain him.
“He had to be taken to the ground,” McCarty said.
Littleton was placed in handcuffs.
He then spat in the face of Peabody officer Josh Wilson when he tried to place him in the back of a patrol car.
He was arrested on suspicion of battery of a law enforcement officer and assault of a law enforcement officer. Littleton was held in lieu of $5,000 surety bond.
The Peabody man has a long list of previous arrests.
He was jailed from Dec. 2 to 22 for failure to appear in court and for a probation violation, on Oct. 8 on suspicion of domestic battery, May 13 to June 5 to hold for court, and Jan. 9 to 10, 2020, again on suspicion of domestic battery.
He also was jailed Nov. 30 to Dec. 11, 2019, for failure to appear in court, Nov. 3 to Nov. 11, 2019, on suspicion of domestic battery, Oct. 10 to 11, 2019, on suspicion of battery and interference with law enforcement, and Feb. 1 to April 12, 2018, on suspicion of disorderly conduct, falsely reporting a crime, aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer, and endangering a child, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
