Doyle Valley Farmers postpone market opening

Doyle Valley Farmers planned to open their summer market in Santa Fe Park, as they traditionally have done, during the Memorial Day weekend.

The group members gather to sell produce, baked goods, and handcrafted items from 8 to 10 a.m. every Saturday from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.

“With the sudden drop in temperatures, we find that there really is not enough produce ready for this weekend,” market vendor Marilyn Jones said. “We hope to only have to put it off a week or so.”

Jones said they will announce the opening day in the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin when they are certain they have enough produce and merchandise to sell.

The market also would welcome new vendors. For more information about joining the market, contact Nelson or Norma Patton at (620) 983-2798.
