Douglas Nesser

Douglas Wayne Nesser, “Uncle Doug” to many, joined the Lord after a long, well-fought battle with cancer on Nov. 8, 2016, 20 days before his 57th birthday.

He was born Nov. 28, 1959, to Charles and Jean (Nienstedt) Nesser in Winfield, Kansas. Both have preceded him, as have his brother, Gary Nesser, and sister, Karen (Nesser) Dvorak.

He found friends wherever he went. He had a positive attitude and a deep devotion for the Lord. He enjoyed “wind therapy” on the Harley and watching sunrises with his love, music, and time with family and friends. Especially close and dearest to his heart was Josh Liby of Sedgwick, who was like a son to him.

He leaves to celebrate: Dianna Adams, who he said was the final piece of life’s puzzle; his son, Dustin Nesser of Peabody; daughters, Kim Rolland of Newton, Jaci Schrag and husband, Jeremy, of Newton, Amanda Coon and husband, Rick, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Maria Sanchaz of Peabody; son-in-law Heath Rolland of Newton and son Matt Regier of Winfield; grandchildren, Conner and Braxton Rolland, Kaycee McClelland, Geordan and Franklin Schrag, Taryn-Zane Gunner and Bryson Coon, and Ariana Marcenaro; brother, Mike Nesser of Hesston; aunts and uncle Joyce Sangwin of White City, Kenny and Margie Nienstedt of Marion; “Mom” Helen Wehry; in-laws, Frank and Janice Woodruff; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Peabody Christian Church, Central Care Cancer Center of Newton, or to the family to help with final expenses.

Doug sends special thanks to Dr. Greg Nanney and all the staff at the cancer center for the caring love they showed to him.
