Dorothy Dozier

Dorothy E. Dozier, 83, of Herington died March 23, 2012, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Council Grove to Allen Sr. and Eleanor B. (Durell) Garrett. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and was a past member of the Eastern Star. She attended Council Grove High School with the class of 1946.

She was married to James Wodke from 1944 to 1974. She married Dr. Fred Dozier on Aug. 16, 1975, in Wichita. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1989. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter; three sisters, Mildred Garrett, Pauline King, and Evelyn Garrett; and her parents.

She is survived by two sons, Jim Wodke Jr. of Loveland, Colo., and Brad Wodke of Newton; a brother, Allen Garrett Jr. of Sterling; four sisters, Marjorie Dearing of Bentonville, Ark., Lois Cox of Olympia, Wash.; Edith Peterson of Council Grove, and Ethel Hastings of Herington; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was Monday at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating. Visitation was Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
