Doris Sparke

Former Marion County resident Doris Jean Meredith Sparke, 80, died at home Sept. 16, 2013.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University and a master’s degree from the University of Kansas; both degrees were in physical education. She taught high school in Sabetha, Haysville, and Olathe and at Friends University in Wichita.

She is survived by her husband, John Sparke; two daughters, Jerri S. Hood of Fayetteville, Ark., and Janice A. Pearce of Shawnee; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
