Donald E. Rosine

Donald E. Rosine was born to William and Laura (Rutledge) Rosine in Lebo, Kansas. He graduated from Lebo High in 1955 and attended Emporia State college.  

Donald moved to Peabody, Kansas in the late ‘50s, where he began his law enforcement career in 1961 in Peabody until 1999. He served as chief of police the last 12 years of his career.

Don served as a Marion County sheriff’s deputy from 1988 until his passing. He still carried his county card.  

He was a member of the Doyle Creek Watershed from 1987 until his passing.

Don was a cowboy and farmer all his life and ran Breezy Hill Ranch in Peabody from 1988 until he passed away there surrounded by family.  

He is survived by wife, Cheryl Rosine; sons Jim (Chris) Philpott and Aaron Waddell, both of Peabody; daughter Amy (Randy) Halcomb of Corvallis, Oregon; mother-in-law Lois Lloyd of Peabody; sisters Betty Standiferd of Lebo; Rita (Harlan) Hammon of Overbrook;  grandsons Clayton, Jess, & Dalton Philpott, Hap and Anderson Waddell, granddaughters Jackie and Jessie Rosine, Rebecca and Abigail Halcomb; and great grandchildren Barrett, Aubree and Aerolin; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dale Rosine; and son Jeff Rosine. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Peabody Christian Church with a burial at Claney cemetery to follow. A visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Baker Funeral Home, Peabody.
